This year, the Stephenson County Historical Society is taking its annual Ice Cream Social on the road to help support our friends at the Lena Area Historical Society.

In April, a tornado caused significant damage to two historic buildings on the Lena museum grounds. Rather than simply relocating our event because of the Carroll Street construction in Freeport, we saw an opportunity to bring our communities together.

We hope the Ice Cream Social encourages people to visit the Lena Area Historical Museum, learn more about the history they preserve, and contribute to efforts to save these damaged historic buildings.

Join us Saturday, August 29, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. for free ice cream, free museum tours, and an opportunity to support local history. Donations will be accepted throughout the event.
